Rare pottery from long ago

Previous to the start of World War one in 1914, a lot of pottery beer mugs were imported from Germany.  Alberta breweries ordered a distinctive shaped mug or glass called a beaker in the sales literature.  Calgary Jim recently obtained a nice example from Lethbridge Brewing that is imprinted with the  Alberta’s Pride brand.  Beside it is an example of the exact same shape beaker from Golden West in Calgary, I wonder  if other Alberta breweries also used this style of advertising mug.  Keep looking!

Sorry about the beer can in the photo, I could not figure out how to crop the photo, but it is a nice can as well from the Port Dover motorcycle show.

First label or can from Dog Island

Dog Island Brewery in Slave Lake, Alberta has recently put in  a canning line and have released their first labelled can.  A friend of mine picked me up a can on his travels.  They cannot distribute anywhere but at the brewery right now as there was something wrong with the UPC code on the can.  Probably will make it  a  rare issue.  Nice looking can that has a cut out in the  shape  of  Dog Island on the back.  The beer was great as well, watch for their products when they finally get permission to distribute.

Another new label

Ribstone label

Winnipeg Dave sent me this photo of a Ribstone Creek Brewery label.  The little brewery  in tiny Edgerton, Alberta puts out some nice beers with some great labels.  If you are visiting, they are only open to the public on Saturdays or by appointment, so plan ahead.

Lethbridge globe (2)Photo of the Lethbridge beer globe that I always thought must have been out there somewhere. Very rare.  Thanks to Spencer Wheaton for sending me the photo.

Here are a couple of speciality labels from Hells Basement, they were small issues and no longer available, I will have to pay closer attention and try and keep up with the Alberta micro labels.  Since the explosion of breweries in Alberta, I have not even been able to try all the beers let alone try and gather labels from them all.  hells basement special labels
